We have been really lucky to have Hannah Gibson (hannahjanegibson.tumblr.com) in the studio this week doing some illustration work (an example of which is above). It has been great to get a new take on things for a few days and we are looking forward to her next stint sometime soon! (she also brings biscuits, which is always good.) A big thanks Hannah for all your help.

Three books are floating around the studio this week.

A recent buy is David Airey’s Logo Design Love which is a great insight into his own identity design process.  It seems primarily aimed at students but has some great examples of sketch work and unused ideas which contributed to the final design of many famous logos, so all in all a great read for anyone interested in the topic.

I am currently re-reading Robert Bringhurst’s Elements of Typographic Style. a classic and at times a little over the top but a great and essential read!

Finally, I have just been lent Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson by Boy Moving Image, apparently it may change everything… will let you know!

First of all, we have moved! But never that far.  A larger studio (above) became available down the corridor here at Islington Mill so we jumped at the chance!  The studio stills houses Clip and our developer friend MGPHP but crucially allows space for another desk. This will allow for additional designers to be brought in on larger projects, adding another creative dimension to the business.

2011 will also start to see a natural progression into the world of mobile focused design alongside the ‘traditional’ web projects. We are really keen to develop sites built with all platforms in mind and are focusing development on this topic. So if anyone has any need for this kind of thing we would love to hear from you.   We are also really starting to push the capabilities of WordPress at the moment and so will be offering far more in the way of content management come the New Year.  Finally we have been working with GetHighSEO, our SEO partner for a while now and plan to offer some fantastic SEO packages for our clients as of the New Year.

So with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline we are looking forward to the New Year, roll on 2011!…

And just in time!  The site had to be ready for this well known Manchester artist’s lastest show at Electrik in Cholton.  In the end a great night was had by all the site will now continue to grow with the art that is produced.  A big thanks to Danny for all those trips to the studio while designing this site, worth it in the end.
